“You don’t own me, I will do what I want!”
Syracuse, NY — In the hours after the St. Patrick’s Parade ended, Syracuse police were kept busy with calls of fights and heavily intoxicated people.
About 6:15 p.m., four men were taken into custody after a fight at South Warren Street and Erie Boulevard East.
One man demanded to know why he was being taken away by the police prisoner transportation van.
“Because you’re all drunk and you’ve been fighting in public,” the officer told him.
Despite the spate of radio calls, police said the crowd wasn’t unruly. Police broke up five after-parade fights, which was down from previous years, Lt. Joe Cecile said.
“The crowds were larger, but the discord was less,” Cecile said.
